Ebor Meeting
Lets go Racing.
We are in the midst of the Ebor race meeting in York at the
moment and the weather today is lovely. Here at the shop this morning I have
already seen a couple of our regular customers who always pop in when they are
in town for the races. One was up on his day yesterday and one was down,
although that didn’t stop him topping up his supplies of Trumper’s finest.
The races also provides a great opportunity to cast an eye
over the massed ranks of suits making their way through York on their way to
and from the course. People always start off looking smarter at the beginning
of the day than they do at the end. Come 6 o’clock all kinds of dishevelment
have often taken place! All of our customers sporting their Mullen and Mullen
suits look very smart, but there are plenty who’s appearance is let down by an
ill fitting suit... They know who they are, and if they don’t, you know where
to send them!
Enjoy the races everyone, I hope you pick some winners!

Twins
Since we've started stocking Luminox watches, there has been a great deal of interest among our customers and sales have been strong.
It gives me great satisfaction to see people wearing and enjoying them. Having become a devoted fan of the watches myself I have also developed a kind of kinship and affinity with co wearers.
Take the chap in the photograph for example. I've been saying for years that Clooney and I have much in common, (not just our uncanny similarities looks-wise), and now finally, that I've discovered that we are both Luminox wearers, I think everyone can finally admit that me and George Clooney are pretty much twins.
Buy a Luminox - be like me and Clooney.
Mullen & Mullen at The Royal Wedding

Royal Wedding
Unfortunately, the Mullen & Mullen at the wedding
yesterday were not Damien and Dominic! Sadly the invitations never did arrive.
I’m sure that William, Catherine and their guests managed to enjoy their day
without us!
Although we were not “physically” there, we were present in
something more than “spirit”, we were there “in clothes”! As you can probably
imagine, when you are a tailor that counts for something! Dom and I were very
excited when we realised that 2 of our customers had been invited to attend the
wedding and the celebration at Buckingham Palace. And even more excited when
they said they would be sporting their new Mullen & Mullen clothes.
I think, “Mullen & Mullen, tailors to the Royal Court”
has a certain ring to it!!! I wonder if it qualifies us for a Royal Seal? – I’ll
have to look into it!

Fullspot
It’s been a week of glorious weather in God’s own county
this week and it has lasted to the weekend. Our Fullspot watches are proving a
hit in the Sunshine, I think their fun and functional design and bright colour scheme
are perfectly suited to the sunny weather and thoughts of holidays.
It’s also been a very busy week of tailoring, on the road
and in the shop and things are continuing to look busy in the weeks ahead, with
the multitude of bank holidays leading to some crammed 3 and 4 day weeks!
And with the Masters on tv from glorious Augusta and the
last of the afternoon sunshine beating on the windowpane- I’m off to enjoy some
more of it!

Are you Ready?
I don’t know about you, but I live my life fairly
conventionally. However, somewhere deep-down in my not-quite subconscious I
have a gnawing and for the most part ignored sensation that at any time things
might change.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is that if I get a tap on
the shoulder when I’m in the cafe buying my skinny decaff latte, or at Tesco
buying nappies... And I’m told that MI5 have been tracking me ,my entire life,
but holding me in reserve as a super-sleeper agent for when James Bond just can’t
cut it... Then I wouldn’t be totally surprised. I’ve been mentally preparing
myself for just such an eventuality. Likewise if I come round from a state of
deep unconsciousness, in an unknown place, suffering from patchy memory loss,
but suddenly aware of a host of long-since buried capabilities such as mastery
of kung-fu, a host of foreign languages and the ability to fly a helicopter, (I
call this the Jason Bourne scenario), then I wouldn’t be surprised. I’d man up
to the challenge, take down the baddies and restore the world to order.....
What concerns me greatly is that when the call comes, or I wake up chained to
that radiator (or is that the wrong film) that I’m wearing my Luminox. Because
when times get tough its the best bit of wristwear you can imagine... Designed
for the Navy Seals its tough and would help you save the world whatever depths
of water, hours of blackout or harshness of environment you have to overcome. Don’t
get caught out.... You’ve been warned- we may all be counting on you.
